Simpson Strong-Tie and Structural Technologies formed a strategic alliance for Composite Strengthening Systems™ (CSS) products in 2021. CSS products include fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) and fabric-reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) strengthening systems. Additionally, where CSS products are not a viable solution, the alliance can also offer recommendations and design for other non-CSS or conventional strengthening solutions. Griff Shapack is a Senior R&D Engineer for Simpson Strong-Tie's Repair, Protection and Strengthening Systems product line. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in structural engineering from North Carolina State University. He joined Simpson Strong-Tie in 2015, after completing his master’s research focused on fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforced concrete. Griff works on new product development and testing with existing products for FRP and fiber-reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) product lines. He is a licensed professional engineer in California and 15 other states. Griff is an active member of ACI Committees 440 and 549, the CSA S806 Technical Committee, and the SEAofNC Triangle Chapter.
